Meet Sandrea Lim, Deputy Technical Director, Practice Monitoring Department
As the national regulator of public accountants, ACRA has independent oversight of public accountants and accounting entities in Singapore. “My work centres around reviewing the works of the audit firms. I am part of the team that conducts practice reviews to assess Public Accountants’ compliance with the professional standards and we work with senior partners in the Public Accountancy profession to uphold high audit quality. I also conduct firm-level inspections to determine whether an audit firm has put in place an effective system of audit quality controls in accordance with the Singapore standards
Working in ACRA has given me the opportunity to interact with like-minded independent audit regulators around the world. I have had the privilege to complete a secondment stint with an overseas audit regulator to experience how a leading jurisdiction conducted its audit regulation. It is an eye-opener and certainly an enriching part of my career experience thus far!

Meet Nur Fazlinah, Assistant Director, Digital Governance & Data Department
I joined ACRA as an Administration Manager for Enterprise Data Hub (EDH). My role then was to manage data requests and handle system enquiries. Just in case you are not aware, ACRA is the national registry of business and contributes to making Singapore a better place for business. During the course of my work, I saw how business data can tell a story and provide useful insights for decision making by management and businesses. This piqued my interest in data analytics.
I started to self-learn Qlik Sense, a data analytic platform, so that I can better support my customers. My superiors were very supportive of my passion in data analytics and I was sent for courses in advanced Data Analytics and Visualisation to support my skill development. I was also given opportunities to apply what I learned when I participated in cross-agencies projects where I worked with experienced data analysts and picked up new programming language like R and DataRobot. Such experiences challenged and engaged me to improve my analytics skills.
As part of staff development, I am now in the Data and Analytics Team responsible for data governance, data management and data analytics in ACRA. I am also given the opportunity to pursue a Professional Certificate in Machine Learning (Python), sponsored by ACRA to further deepen my skills. I look forward to applying the new skills at work to improve our services, thereby contributing to our vision of making Singapore: The Best Place for Business.”
