Special UEN (SUN): Choose Your Preferred UEN

A Unique Entity Number (UEN) is an identification number that is generated for a business entity, following successful incorporation/registration with ACRA. All business entities need to use the UEN when transacting with government agencies. This UEN is issued free of charge to business entities.

From 9 February 2018, entity owners can choose, at a fee, a preferred UEN from a list of reserved UENs during entity incorporation/registration  or conversion. This preferred UEN is known as Special UEN (SUN). Those who do not wish to apply for a SUN will continue to be issued with a free system-generated UEN. SUN enables entity owners to more easily identify with and remember their own UEN when transacting with government agencies.

Effective 13 May 2022, our BizFile+ homepage and some of our eServices have been enhanced to better meet our customers needs. Find out more about the BizFileenhancements!

Use of Principal Names in selected eForms effective 1 May 2020

Effective 1 May 2020, we only require the principal name of NRIC holders to be filed in selected eForms. Principal name refers to the name of the individual without including variants such as hanyu pinyin and aliases. This is part of our on-going efforts to improve filing experience for customers, by obtaining such personal data from the relevant agency under the National Registration Act and pre-filling them on the eForms on Bizfile+.

The list of selected eForms is appended. We will progressively extend the prefilling feature to other e-Forms.

The 14 BizFile+ eServices are:

This will cut down the time required in filling up the eForms, and also ensure the accuracy of the bio-data submitted for the relevant position holders.

Enhancements to Annual Return Form

With effect from 27 Dec 2019, all companies can file their annual returns (AR) with greater ease as most of the information will be pre-filled in the online AR form on ACRA’s online filing portal, BizFile+ by taking reference from the previous AR filing. The filer will need to review the pre-filled information to ensure that it is still relevant for the current AR.

The user interface for the annual return has also been streamlined with a more intuitive layout, and the filer will now need to update or review the information for fewer pages.

In Aug 2018, ACRA had simplified the online AR form that solvent exempt private companies (EPC) and private dormant relevant companies use to file the AR. This latest initiative enables all companies to use one common online AR form that has been further simplified.
