Find solutions to common errors when updating position holder, shareholder, or member information in Bizfile.

This guide covers issues you may encounter with the following transactions in Bizfile:

General issues that apply to multiple eServices
Unauthorised access error when attempting to update or appoint
Issue: Unauthorised access error

Solution | Corppass is required to file these transactions. Follow these steps.
If you are a corporate service provider (CSP) or hold positions in multiple entities: Check that you have switched to the correct entity profile. CSPs must select the CSP Profile instead of My Entities before filing on behalf of a client. If you have the correct profile but are still unable to access the eService: You may not be authorised to file the eService under that profile. For example, a position holder of a sole proprietorship may not file a share transaction. |
Unable to enter special characters or multiple units in the "Unit" field
Issue: “Unit” field error

Issue | You could not enter special characters or multiple units in the 'Unit' field for addresses. |
Solution | When filling in the 'Unit' field:
For addresses with multiple units (for example, 05-01/10), enter only the first unit (for example, 05-01). |
Incorrect information displayed for Singapore Citizens or Permanent Residents
Issue: Incorrect information on user dashboard

Solution | No action is required. Bizfile obtains this information from other government agencies monthly. The correct details will appear in information products (such as the Business Profile) after the next update. |

Error message when updating a shareholder's information

What you need to know | Details |

Issue | You saw this message when trying to update a shareholder's information: "All shareholders currently hold a position in the entity. Please proceed to Update Position Holder page to update their information." |
Solution | To update the information of shareholders who hold positions in the entity, use the Update Position Holder eService. Any changes to corporate shareholder information must be made through the Update Entity Information eService. |
Error when entering special characters in the Foreign Business Registration Number (FBRN) field
Issue: Updating FBRN
What you need to know | Details |

Issue | You saw the message "FBRN cannot have special characters" when entering the FBRN. |
Solution | The FBRN field only accepts alphanumeric characters. When entering the FBRN:
For example, enter "B123456" instead of "B-1-23456". |
Unable to edit the Foreign Business Registration Number (FBRN) after submission
