Overview of the striking off process for companies
Before you apply
This guide explains how to close your company by striking off its name from ACRA's register. ACRA may approve the application if it believes that your company is not carrying on business and meets the striking off criteria.
Who may apply
Company officers (such as the director or company secretary) can file directly.
You may also engage a corporate service provider (CSP) to file on your behalf. CSPs must ensure that the majority of the company's directors have consented to the company's striking off before they apply.
What you need to do
You do not need to prepare any supporting documents to apply for striking off.
However, you need to complete the six steps below.

| Ensure your company does not have any outstanding tax credits before applying. When your company is dissolved, any tax credits will be transferred to the Insolvency and Public Trustee's Office (IPTO). Shareholders of the closed company may approach the Insolvency Office to claim these tax credits, but may have to pay processing fees. |

Step 1: Log in to Bizfile and open the "Apply to strike off business entity" eService
Follow these steps to navigate to the Apply to strike off business entity eService.

Step 2: Enter your striking off information
You need to verify that you are striking off the right company. Then, confirm that the company meets the striking off criteria and enter your reason for striking off.
If your company has other position holders, all or most of the directors must endorse the application within 14 days. Otherwise, the application will lapse.

Note: Endorsements for striking off are not needed if a corporate service provider (CSP) applied on your behalf.
After you apply
If you had to obtain endorsements: Once all endorsements are complete, you will receive a Bizfile notification that the striking off application has been approved.
This means that ACRA will start processing your application. Your company remains "Live" and registered with ACRA for now.

Striking off process
The striking off process starts after your application is approved by ACRA. The process takes at least three months after ACRA approval, depending on whether anyone objects.

(If no objections) First gazette notification | ACRA will publish your company's name in the First Gazette Notification within 30 days of approval. |
60-day waiting period | Interested parties may object to the strike-off during this period. If an objection is accepted: ACRA will send your company a letter stating the objector's name and the reason for the objection. Contact the objector directly to resolve the matter. Your company has two months to resolve the issue. If an objection is not resolved within two months: The striking-off application will lapse. Your company can apply again only after the objection is cleared. |

Withdrawing your application
You can withdraw your striking off application [PDF, 1.2 MB] anytime through Bizfile.
After your withdrawal is approved, ACRA will publish your company's name in the list of entities that withdrew their striking off applications.
Cost: Free
Restoring a struck-off company
You can restore a struck-off company within six years by getting a Court Order.
After you file the Court Order on Bizfile, the company status will change to "Live" once ACRA has processed the application.
Frequently asked questions (FAQs)
Can I apply to strike off a company if I have outstanding annual returns (ARs) but no court summons?
Yes, you may apply for striking off if all the striking off criteria have been met.
You are advised to monitor the striking off process until the company is successfully struck off.
If the striking off process is unsuccessful and your company remains "Live" on ACRA's register, your company must continue to meet its compliance requirements.
