Applying for an extension of time (EOT) to register a charge

Before you apply

For charges with instruments executed outside Singapore, local and foreign companies may apply for a 30-day extension under the Companies Act (CA), section 139.

For charges with instruments executed in Singapore, apply for a Court order under CA section 137.

This EOT application must be submitted before the filing due date. Applications cannot be submitted after the due date has passed.

Step 1: Log in to Bizfile and open the "Apply for extension of time" eService

Follow these steps to log in to Bizfile and navigate to the Apply for extension of time eService.

Note: All entity and personal information (including UEN, entity details, NRIC or FIN numbers, names and addresses) shown are dummy data for illustration purposes only.

1. Log in to Bizfile using your Corppass (Business User) credentials.

2. Check that the entity name on the top menu bar and the dashboard is correct.

3. From the mega menu, click "Manage". Then, select "Apply for extension of time".

4. On the "Apply for extension of time" introduction page, click "Start".

Step 2: Provide your details

Follow these steps to enter the details of your EOT application.

1. Check the entity details. Then, select “Extension of Time for Registration of Charge S139” from the dropdown list.

2. Enter the date the charge was created and the country where the charge instrument was made or executed. State the reason for extension.

3. The extended period and due date will be calculated automatically. Click 'Review and confirm'.

Step 3: Review and submit

Follow these steps to review and submit your EOT application.

1. Review all entered information carefully. Tick the declaration box. Then, click 'Submit'.

2. You will see a confirmation message.

3. A notification confirming approval will be sent to your Bizfile Inbox.
