What the Skills Framework offers

The Skills Framework for Accountancy supports employers in creating career pathways, guides individuals in their skills development, and helps training providers enhance accountancy programmes.  It offers comprehensive insights on:

  • Sector information – key statistics, trends and workforce profiles

  • Career pathways – vertical and lateral progression pathways

  • Job roles – information on 44 job roles across 11 career tracks, 105 existing and emerging technical skills and competencies

Career tracks in accountancy

The 11 tracks are:

  • Assurance: Auditing and assurance services to provide confidence in financial information

  • Financial Accounting: Ensuring integrity of financial data and turning it into actionable insights that drive business success

  • Management Accounting: Using financial data to support business decisions and planning

  • Internal Audit: Evaluating and improving risk management, controls, and governance processes

  • Business Valuation: Determining the economic value of businesses or assets

  • Tax: Tax planning, compliance, and advisory services

  • Restructuring and Insolvency: Managing business restructuring, turnarounds, and insolvency cases

  • Mergers and Acquisitions: Advising on business combinations, acquisitions, and divestitures

  • Financial Forensics: Investigating financial crimes, fraud, and disputes

  • Enterprise Risk Management: Identifying, assessing, and managing business risks

The Skills Framework for Accountancy, developed by the Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority (ACRA) as part of the SkillsFuture initiative, promotes mastery of accountancy skills and lifelong learning. Developed in consultation with key professional bodies such as the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants, Singapore Chartered Tax Professionals, Insolvency Practitioners Association of Singapore, Institute of Internal Auditors Singapore, and the Tax Academy, the framework supports employers in creating career pathways, guides individuals in their skills development, and helps training providers enhance accountancy programmes.
