Complaints


ACRA look into complaints made against a business (sole-proprietorship or partnership), a company (private limited or public listed), a limited liability partnership, a limited partnership or an unregistered entity for breaches under the Business Registration Act, Companies Act, Limited Liability Partnerships Act or Limited Partnerships Act. You may refer to the list of common offences for the investigations that we conduct.

How to lodge a complaint / request for investigations by ACRA?

The complainant must clearly state the details of the entity being complained on, i.e. name, registration number and address of entity, the contact details of the entity’s owner(s), nature of the complaint, and must be supported by all documents relevant to the case.

The complaint must be in writing and addressed to:

Other complaints / request for investigations that are not within ACRA’s purview

Please note that if the complaint does not fall within ACRA’s purview, the complaint together with the supporting documents may be forwarded to the respective department for further investigations. Some examples of complaints / request for investigations that are not within ACRA’s purview are:

  • Forgery of Signature - to refer to police
  • Fraud - to refer to the Commercial Affairs Department
  • Management of Company / LLP / Business by disqualified officers - to refer to the Commercial Affairs Department
  • Internal disputes among directors or shareholders of company - to seek own independent legal advice on such matters
