ACRA has completed a series of write-ups on various topics relating to company law and the Companies Act. The aim of these write-ups is to provide the general public with a basic understanding of the relevant areas of the law. We hope that the write-ups will also serve as a useful guide to aspiring or new corporate entrepreneurs.
The write-ups consist of 9 chapters with topics ranging from the legal nature of companies, shares and share capital, accounts and audit and foreign companies.
Some basic company law concepts covered in the chapters include the doctrine of separate legal personality for a company and its exceptions; and circumstances when the Registrar of Companies might direct a company to change its name under the power granted to the Registrar in the Companies Act and its subsidiary legislation.
As we are only covering basic legal law concept and requirements, readers are advised to seek separate legal advice if they have more complex queries.
